Catwalk XT
ALS affects motoneurons, progressively impairing patients’ ability to perform even the simplest motor tasks.
To study motor function in our animal models, and to evaluate the effectiveness of our experimental therapies, we use standard behavioral tools such as the Rotarod and grid test. However, the tool that truly transformed our workflow is the automated CatWalk system.
CatWalk is a free-walking gait analysis platform that allows mice to move naturally through an illuminated corridor connected to a high-speed camera. In just a few minutes, the system automatically detects footprints and quantifies a comprehensive set of gait parameters with high precision.
This means no forced running, no operator bias and detailed and quantitative gait signatures.
